We have a 2006 PT that the left rear signal light stopped working on. Does not work signaling and also does not work with hazards on.
So the low down is, we already know about the recall and talked to Chrysler and they said our car is not on the list. They want us to pay $150 an hour to look at it. What we have done on our own with no success is, change the bulb, test it in the opposite light, test the flasher itself on the opposite plug, change front signal light, check fuse, swap fuse, check ground and wires behind instead rear left trim, disconnect and reconnect flasher plug in steering housing, touch battery connectors together for a minute, touch together for 12 hours, check wires running along left side door wells, wiggle (wires, bulb, connectors, loom in engine bay, grounds), checked current (I don't have much experience with a multimeter I was told to set it to V and test the connections so I put it at V 250 and we had a reading of 24 on both rear signals (working(right) and not working(left))), hitting panels that run along the wiring. We are pretty much at a loss. Especially because it has a current and nothing happens. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks |

The recall we heard about in a couple places is this one
2006 PT Cruiser: fuse, bulbs and the turn signal switch with no luck We also tried what you said, both sockets work and both bulbs and extra bulbs as well work in the right side but not the left. |

But other parts listed in the JustAnswer might apply, but that involves a dealership using their StarSCAN tool to do some troubleshooting with the vehicle, that unfortunately you won't be able to do. Are you using standard incandescent bulbs or LED bulbs? Last edited by rckstein; 19 Apr 2017 at 12:07 am. |

(sigh) I hope we don't have to do that. We cannot afford to pay that right now.
They are all incandescent. |

Welcome to the forum from Texas.
If you are using a multimeter, it should be on DCV 20. With the signal or emergency flashers on, make sure you have the black probe on a good ground and the red probe in the connector inserted into the slot with the wire going to the switch. Your reading should fluctuate as the voltage comes through the flasher. If this works, you might want to test the ground at the connector. Set the multimeter to OHMS. Insert the red probe in to the ground slot in the connector and the black probe to a good ground. Your reading should go to zero. |
