Alright, hi I'm new here but been looking for quite awhile. So my issue that arose is my car will stall out in gear, being drive and reverse only when I turn the wheel. It doesn't happen in park or neutral. I looked at the power steering pressure switch and I replaced that and nothing worked. I had my brother in law test drive and look at it as he works at a dodge dealership and he decided to try to reprogram the transmission and shifter module. That seemed to have worked for a day and the problem came back. Turning into my road today the car stalled going around the corner, no stuttering or anything just lost power to the engine and power steering.
Some info about the car, 2003 PT Cruiser GT. Automatic 125000 daily driver Oil changed every 3000 miles Premium gas always Brand new serpentine belt and alternator belt. I'm not sure why the problem came back and what else it could be. Please help! Last edited by NickDonero; 18 Apr 2017 at 10:38 pm. |

What is the rpm at an idle when you start it up cold and at normal engine temperatures?

RPM at idle sits a tick below 1000 and the temps are at the normal for my car sitting right in the middle of the gauge.

So you are at almost 1,000 rpm in park with the engine temperature in the middle of the temperature guage?

Yes. That's my normal idle and tempatures for my car. But when I put my car in drive, they both stay the same and the minute I turn the wheel the car stalls.

I would suggest checking the power steering pressure switch. If the switch does not see the increased pressure from turning the wheel it can't tell the PCM to increase engine speed to compensate.
Is your engine light on?

I've already replaced the Power Steering Pressure Switch, and yes the code is P0700 and it is a Automatic Transmission Control System Malfunction.

P0700 is a generic code. I would suggest finding out what transmission codes are being triggered that is not being recognized by your scan tool.
