Default Odometer issues. Miles to km, Imperial to metric

Hello everyone! I own a 2.4 GT PT Cruiser. I believe that my odometer is recording the distances i travel in miles, and i want km...

Today I drove about 250 km and my odometer only recorded 148. I converted from miles to km and about 240 km. Is it possible not to record the right thing? How can I tell if the odometer records in miles or does not record correctly? On my odometer is written that the registration is in km. Please help.

The first question would be what size tires are you running on the vehicle? Are they the same as what the vehicle originally came with?

To check what size tires originally came on your PT, check the VIN label on the edge of the drivers door, then compare to the size of tires actually on the vehicle.

If you have a 2006 or up, is your left instrument cluster have a button to make changes?

I just tried that on mine, it only changes the readout of the outside thermometer from F to C, does not change the odometer.

That was the same thing, it only changes the info displayed in the EVIC (temp, distance to empty, avg mpg) changing that setting to display km did not change the odometer display, it still remained in miles.

It's a 2004 pt. It doesn't have the "evic" button. The tires are ok 205/50/16".

Above the odometer is written "km". Does not that mean it should record in kilometers? Look at the photo I have attached.

The tires you have on the car and the VIN label match?

Your gauges are marked km so it should be recording in that unit of measure.

I found an Android speedometer/odometer app that I downloaded, I'm going to test it tomorrow on the highway, and to see how close it is to the mile markers, and to the odometer on my PT, it should be pretty accurate since it uses numerous satellites.

Yes, the tires match... I bought the car for a week. Is it possible that the old owner has changed from km to mile so that the odometer shows a smaller run?

If that was possible, I would think that one would have to have some programming done to the PCM by a dealership. You might inquire at a dealership if that is possible?

Use the following website to check the build sheet for your PT, it will show you everything that came on the PT when it was manufactured:

Dodge - Contact Us

In the left-hand box, under Your Vehicle, click on Equipment Listing, then in the Equipment Listing box in the middle of the screen, enter the VIN of your PT then click on the red Search box.

Towards the end of that Build Sheet, see what market your PT was built to.
