Default Plan seat swap. Need info on how to disconnect and reconnect side air bags.

SUBJECT: I need instructions to correctly disconnect and reconnect the CGSS Supplemental Side Front Seat Air bags on SOOO BIG a 2005 PT. I'm planning to change to grey cloth seats. The leather still looks nice and SOOO BIG's still fun to drive but I'm becoming a thin skinned old geezer. It's just age! Leather's too hot in summer, too cold in winter!
Could a more knowledgeable PTer instruct me on the eccentricities of disconnecting and reconnecting these front air bags? . . . .It might not be that big a deal but I don't want to make a mistake on anything. . . . What year seats are compatible? . . .Could I simplify and find a good set of grey cloth seats W/O side air bags? . . . W/O side air bags would that mess up the electronics and or leaved the Air Bag Light on in the Fuel/ Temp gauge? . . . What other options should I consider in this swap? . . . .PLEASED ADVISE!
I found one decent 2004 PT grey cloth seat set at a local LKQ yard. They may not be there the next time I look but there's always another.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ANY ADVISE
Happy PTin', ptprice

Dang it, Price! Give me a week or so to go back and look at a couple of places I've been in the past two weeks. I THINK one of them had a nice set of gray seats in it. Seems it was the 06 I got my tail lights from. Do you want just the front seat covers or the back seat too? I'm not sure about how to safely remove yours, but would think that after disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, you'd be safe to go. Maybe Nitro knows and will reply. I can't see any of your photos. It shows invalid attachment, please notify an administrator. So, any admins reading, can you fix that for Price?

Thanks for looking Chuzz. I'd like to hook up and look with you. The photos aren't a problem. I pulled them down myself to make the thread to the point. They weren't relative to the primary thread subject of my learning how to properly disconnect and reconnect the replacement seats with the side air bags safely. You'll notice I've summarize it all to just that subject. I have a tendency to be long winded. My rambling on about trading seats had nothing to do with the "how too?" I just have to know how to do the swap safely and what to look for that's compatible. What I wrote in red is primarily all I needed to post! I have an idea that only the first generation seats will suffice. But I'm not sure of that and before I haunt my local LKQ yard again I want to be armed with more knowledge. I'm searching for a replacement set of "PT Cruiser front and back grey cloth seats". I'm going to take mine out and replace them with grey cloth seats! It'd be neat to know that a set of front and back seats from a later model would work because they might be in better shape by a few years!. I'd admit this is somewhat of an obsession but it's better than smoking Mary Jane or drinking Scotch! Keeping up SOOO BIG is a far cry from my life's avocation of restoring old cars but it's all I'm able to do now. I call it Happy PTin', ptprice

I believe you cannot swap 06-10 seats into a 01-05 PT. Something about electric plugs and the change in electric systems in 06.
There are bunches of early PTs hitting the yards now that are Granny cars that mostly only Granny drove so the seats and other interior goodies are near perfect. Most hated popped the timing belt and the owners don't see sense in spending the money on an otherwise perfect seven to sixteen year old car.
Imagine seeing cars that the yard only paid $235 or so for in a yard shining in the sun with accessories galore and a bad timing belt with 65-95 K on the clock.
Geez!

Thanks, sounds like PT Nirvana. I kinda figured the first generation and second weren't interchangeable. That'd be too easy! But what you said about Granny PT's might explain the nice 2004 interior I found the other day at LKQ. I was looking at it with a jaundiced eye! With a few of my PT friends looking down here in Florida maybe something will show up. It's nice to have a nonalcoholic, drug free obsession! Thanks for the advise.

If I keep driving a PT, I may HAVE to switch to drugs and alcohol just to keep my sanity!!!

I'm going yard shopping on Wednesday and Friday. I'm determined to find a nice set of grey cloth seats for SOOO BIG. To me, the leather's too hot in Summer, too cold in Winter. If any of my PT friends just about anywhere in Florida spot a nice grey cloth set compatible with a 2005 PT give me a PM or email. priceyoungman@hotmail.com

By the way, at the end of this odyssey I'll have that nice set of 2005 CDZP Premium Leather Taupe/Pearl Beige seats left over.

Thank you, Happy Ptin', ptprice

No luck in my search for seats today!

I'll have to depend on a PT friend to spot a set of 2005 or equivalent grey cloth seats, front and back. "Must have side air bags. 2006 on up won't do. Non air bag front seats won't do either". At least I've found that out during this search!

SOOO BIG and I are willing to drive any reasonable distance to pick 'em up.

Please advise. Thank you.

Happy PTin', ptprice

I've had a few second generation second hand PT's and from the looks of the seats, not leather they get spots by just looking at them, not much luck cleaning them either.
