To buy or not to buy...2001 PT

Hi all...
New to the forum,love it
Been hanging out from time to time
So much knowledge,i know very little about newer cars
Always liked the PT.,even rented one a few years back
Would like to tap some of that knowledge

Have a chance to purchase a PT. 2001
Has 140k or so on the odometer
This will be my only vehicle,mostly local running around to and from work,and taking my daughter about. Single dad,so my money is tight now
What should i look for to avoid catastrophey?
Cant afford to start fixing things
Would this be a good car to have?
Seems all i could find that was clean,looks really nice,and in my price range

My other car is too much for me to repair, and is rusting away(2000 Voyager)
Several folks have told me to stay away
But i thought id ask the experts
So what say you???
