Default Oil Leaking from Dip Stick Tube

Hey Guys.

While changing the oil on my wife's PT Cruiser this weekend, I noticed a buildup of oil and dirt around the bottom of the dipstick. It looks like it has been slowly leaking over time. Is there a gasket or an o-ring where the tube meets the oil pan? There is a gasket on my Colorado, but I do not see any parts listed for the Cruiser. Also, what holds in the dipstick? There is a bolt on top and I think I can feel a nut holding it down to the oil pan.

Car: 2004 PT, non-turbo, about 130k miles. Seamist Green Metallic

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it is just a press fit with the bolt holding it to the intake so it doesn't flap around. They go in a few inches, so there is no reason it would need a gasket not to leak. I think it is just a good place for grunge to buildup and it is more likely a leak from above.

It sounds normal to me. It takes a very small amount of oil to collect a lot of dirt.

I will take a look again, you could be right about just collection point for a few drops. It had a decent layer of mostly dirt with oil sludge around it. I will continue to monitor to see if I can track down the source of the leak.

Thanks!
