Default I'm lost on a/c problem

Hello all, I came here because you know these cars. I have a A/C problem that has me stumped.
Recent work includes, Evaporator, liquid line and accumulator. After this job was finished, a vacuum was pulled, oil added, and a charge of Freon. I was surprised when it took so little to reach the correct pressures (aprox 10oz).
Everything was fine for a week then all of a sudden no cold air and the relief valve on the compressor was popping off. When I arrived home I placed the gauges back on, and no overpressure. Pulled another vacuum and tried to recharge, would only accept about a quarter of the first can before idling rough and actually stalled the car.
Please help if you have ever seen this, The compressor appears to work, most everything that could create a blockage has been replaced, except the condenser, and besides just throwing money and parts at it...I'm at a loss. Oh and fan does work on both speeds.
