Default Cooling Fan Turns on at what temperature

Hello all. I like to know if someone can tell me if my concern is normal for the cooling fan. I have my car on and sitting still in park. My A/C is turned off. The cooling fan does not turn on into my temp gauge go up 3 marks (the half way mark). It does not turn off into the temp gauge go down half a mark. When the cooling fan turns on it is running at low speed.

If the A/c turn on then the fan will run at high speed.

Is this normal is something wrong.

Also can you tell me what mark should the temp gauge be at when the fan turns on low speeds sitting in park.

I have attached a photo. The yellow mark is when my low speed turn on and the green dot is where it turns off once it has been on

Radiator Fan Operation Chart 1.jpg

Usually it common for the low speed fan to fail. I would recommend you manually check the radiator fan low speed and see if its working properly or not if you think your engine might be overheating.

I just replaced the fan with a new one today. I did this because the old fan had a problem. however I notice this problem with the new fan as well. I have check to see if any wires were bad but they all seem to be good.

I have the A/C connected but it needs to be charged. would that create they problem

I don't see a problem...from you post & pic, it's working as it should.

Yep, that looks right on the money. When I'm sitting in traffic mine will creep up to that mid mark before dropping. back to about where you have the low mark indicated. According to my ultragauge, that's about 212 degrees.

I agree with LionPT, myckee and Wolfman01 that when sitting and idling this is exactly how it should be.
As long as you don't start running over a notch or two above the center mark while driving you should have no problems.

I am curious as to why you are asking these questions unless something happened that was not normal?

jseigle85 in the future you really should keep your pictures much smaller. CREWZIN the forum moderator will be along to edit your picture unless you do it first.
