Who do you buy your car insurance from?
Who's good? Who's cheap? I've been with State Farm for serveral years, but my car insurance just went up 20% so I am thinking that I might be able to save some funds switching over to another company with better rates. I am in California. Any suggestions?

I USED to have State Farm too, Steve. When they raised my rates last year, I went shopping. I'd never had a claim with the Farm and it pissed me off. I got the same coverage with Geico and it was about $200 a year less. And I also switched my Chrysler 200 at the same time (of course) and they saved me $27 per month on it! We won't get into the outrageous homeowners rates that I was giving State Farm, but switching to a company thru Geico saved me over a grand per year!

I'm in the process of switching from The Hartford to Allstate for both Home and 2 cars (PT and 2014 Chevy Cruze). I thought Hartford was good but looking around and comparing rates, Allstate will save me nearly $1000 a year for both policies. My Vette is separate with a collector car company (American Collector Insurance).

I have all of my insurance with State Farm. Six months ago I had increased my deductible to $1000 just to try and keep the rate down on the Pt Cruisers but now even with $1000 deductible they are increasing the rate $200 a year per vehicle and this is with multiple vehicles on the policy and being under an umbrella.

So far for California it looks like Allstate or E-insurance is getting good reviews and reasonable prices.
Allstate, Geico, Progressive or State Farm: Which One Is Best for You? https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/insu...rm-comparison/ NerdWallet’s auto insurance rating for Allstate: 8th out of 21 insurers https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/insu...rance-reviews/ I will be checking out Automobile Club of Southern California. https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/insu...nce-companies/

You are too quick for me. ![]() I was considering E-insurance but I can't hear the phone so I will probably check on Allstate first as they have customer service. And of course you mentioned the rates are cheaper at Allstate. Thanks
