Default PT 2006 Alternator Connector

Anyone know how to disconnect the wiring from the alternator on a 2006 PT?
With light to medium force, every which way I try the connector won't release.
Any help on this would be great.
I do not want to break the connector.
Thanks for any input

That red part slides back a bit then you can push the rear of the plug and release the lock

Thanks for the fast reply!

I can't get the red part to move at all.
Should I push the red part towards the alternator or away from it?

Pull on the red clip. You can always try slipping a small flat blade screwdriver in there to CAREFULLY pry it in that direction. They break pretty easily, so be patient.

I've used a standard stubby flat blade screwdriver on those locks with success. As stated before "CAREFULLY". I'd give it a little nudge, and if it moves, you nudge it some more. If it doesn't move, STOP and evaluate. I suspect the red locking tab goes away from the connector. That usually frees a plastic piece to lever when pressed down to unlock the connector.

Thanks to all for the replies.
I did try getting in there with a flat blade but all I manged to do was cut into the red plastic a bit.
There really is not much room to maneuver.
I had to take it off the ramps and park it for the night but I will be getting back to it soon.
Thanks again.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the red tab need to be slid to the left (in the direction of the yellow arrow) towards the wires, to be able to unlock the connector?

Yes that is my thinking exactly.
However I cannot get it to budge.
My flat blade screw driver just slips off of it and leaves a little mark in the tab.
I have applied a fair amount of force as well.

Clips like this are meant to be taken off so there is something I am missing because it should not take a tremendous amount of force.

Thanks again for all the help and the graphics too!
Much appreciated.

When I have a stuck tab, as I am applying some force I also try to wiggle it from side to side to help loosen it. Sometimes with good results. Sometimes when it comes loose, it breaks anyway. Just to spite me, I'm sure!
