Default Red Airbag Light On After Wheel Alignment

Hey folks,

I just had new struts installed on my 2008 PT Cruiser, along with two new tires and an alignment. Then one day later, my red airbag light started coming on & off every 5-10 minutes.

2 days later, the red airbag light remains on almost all the time, and I now noticed that when I'm at a stop sign and make a hard 90 degree right turn, the red airbag light will always turn off, but then come back on after driving straight.

I found one post (https://answers.yahoo.com/question/i...9115655AA8viCW) that eluded the clock spring must be re-centered if the front wheels were removed.

Is this just one of those odd coincidences where I get my car back and the clock spring happens to break, or did the mechanic forget to re-center the clock spring after new tires and alignment.

Ya'lls feedback is always appreciated!

Frank

Wheel alignment should not hurt the clock spring unless it was about to. You need to check the wire to the collision sensors. Other than that you will need a scanner to determine the the fault. Most DYI scanners don't have that option so you can go to auto zone or such and have the read the codes may send you in the right direction. If this is a shop you go to all the time bring it back have them check it.

PS!!!!! WARNING!!! do not play with the wires with the battery connected. You don't want to set off the air bag. Bad thing!!

Thanks for your reply. I read up plenty about airbag and the need to remove negative battery terminal and wait 5 minutes, but I'm not going to mess around with it. I had Tread Quarters do the original strut and wheel install and alignment.

I have to have new front wheel bearings and hubs installed, so I'll have TQ take a look at it.

Thanks again!
