Default Thumping in front end

This is picking up where Badglas' thread (Thumping in front end over bumps) left off.

I have a similar problem, although not quite. My right front end has a lot of thumping which varies with speed and with the position of the steering wheel. It is experienced in the steering wheel and can be felt in vibrations on the floor. It is also easy to hear. Yesterday, after I repaced the control arm (bad rear bushing), the thumping continued and did again just now although not so bad. It is worse when turning to the left, somewhat when going straight ahead and not so much when turning to the right. This is subject to change in intensity with no particular reason.

The sway bar bushings are in bad shape and can be heard going over bumps, but my problem noted above is much different.

I'm not sure where to look next. Could it be the tie rod ends? How about the right front wheel bearing? Thank you for whatever assistance may be forthcoming.

Maybe the strut mount bearing? IDK, just guessing.

I feel kinda silly asking this, but... What is a strut mount bearing?

Read that wrong. Strut mounts we all have.

I am starting to think that my problem is the intermediate shaft bearing, but...

the N/A cars don't have. The mount I am thinking of is on the intermediate shaft or a jackshaft or whatever you call it. The middle shaft added so that the left and right shafts are the same length. IIRC N/A cars do not have this "jackshaft" they just have unequal length shafts and I don't think those have those kind of bearings.

Never heard of a strut mount bearing. Looked it up and now I know. Thanks for the enlightenment but I'm pretty sure that's not the problem
