Default Same old stuck on defrost question

I've got a basic 09. I pulled the center console out, un kinked the wire. Well, let's try something. I pulled the cable off of the direction selector and tried to move it through the tube myself. No luck. I'm guessing I'll have to take the dash out to fix it.

Any ideas? Thoughts? I do not want to take the dash out or pay some to do it.

Thanks.

I had the same problem in my 06 and my fix was to straighten the cable ant then I loosened the screw /bolt securing the other end of the cable to the AC housing. The cable moved much easier. If I remember correctly I was able to do this by opening the center cover like you did to straighten the cable and then through the glove box door.. or did I reach through the center cover..

I just fixed this on my 06. The cable had popped off the selector and the linkage had jumped timing on the blend door. I removed the glove box and went in that way. I removed the screw on the linkage cover, aligned the pin in the slot and popped in back in.
