Default 2006 keys

Quick question, I have a 2006 Limited. I believe it has the factory alarm. When I bought it, I only received a gray transponder key, no fob. Should this have come with the separate fob like the gen 1 or the 3 button style keyhead? I'm looking to order replacements so I can have the keyless entry and not have the alarm go off every time I get in. I've been manually locking each door so I don't have that happen but it's a pain!

If your PT has the factory alarm and keyless entry, then your key should be this:

But just to confirm what your PT has, you can to this website and get the Build Sheet:

https://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/index.html

In the left-hand column under YOUR VEHICLE, click on Equipment Listing. Then on the next page that loads, enter the VIN in the white box in the middle of the screen and then click the red Search button.

These could be kind of expensive to purchase and have programmed. Did you get your PT from a dealership or auto lot? If so, you might try going back through them as your PT should have come with 2 of these keys/remotes.

My local Orchard Supply Hardware sells programmable keys for $90. Any idea whether these will work, or am I stuck with paying dealership prices if I want a spare key? My '06 Touring only came with one key.

I bought it from a private owner who was only given the 1 key as well. I'm going to order a pair of aftermarket ones on Amazon for 25 bucks. My dealer will program them for 55.
