I was driving to a volunteer event this morning when the car just dies and won't restart. I did the key dance and got P0340 and P1391.

When I got the car home:
I inspected the crankshaft sensor wiring: GOOD
I tested voltage and grounds at both the cam and crankshaft sensor: GOOD
I pulled the crankshaft sensor off and cranked the engine: Uh oh. NO GOOD.
I started to pull the timing belt cover off and I got it open far enough to see the timing belt was flopping in the breeze: NO GOOD

1st timing belt replaced proactively at 103k.
2nd timing belt broke at 146k.

I wasn't really expecting the timing belt to break at such low mileage, but when I looked back at my records, it has been 10 years since the last time it was replaced.

Now, I need to decide if I want to tackle this job myself or pay to have it done or... Luckily we have two cars that are typically never gone at the same time, so I can take my time and do it myself, but it's a little daunting.
I decided to go for it! I received the Gates timing belt kit and Gates accessory belt kit today and the right side motor mount is coming in on Thursday. Since I can't drive the car to get the A/C discharged, I'm going to give it a go without taking the A/C lines off. Hopefully they won't cause me too much more pain. I'd like to also make my life easier by using air tools. I have a 1/2" impact and 3/8" ratchet that has been sitting unused in my toolbox for over 25 years, but no air compressor. I'm trying to justify the expense of buying one with all the money I'm saving doing the job myself.

Lubed the sliding pins on the rear brakes after taking the rubbers out and filing of the rust in the bores, now their sliding nicely again. Also adjusted the handbrake while i was in there.

I put in MOOG problem solver ball joints several years ago and they have Zerk fittings in them.

Removing the brand new headlight assembly with the burned out LED Halo.

But, it is giving me a chance to take pictures, measure, and plan ahead for my Morette Headlight Project.

Drove it and noticed that the lamp for the reverse gear doesn't work. Since the reargear switch is about 80USD here in Sweden i want to order it from rockauto. Any experience with the 2 cheaper versions the're selling compared to the mopar one?

After 5 years, I finally gave up on the project Dream Cruiser. It was already a bit rusty when I got it, but another 5 years of sitting, only made things worse. At this point, it didn't make sense to sink any money into it. So, today, it went off to the junkyard. Kind of sad.

Now I have to part ways with a ton of parts I had bought intended for that car. Already listed some.

Oh that's sad Myckee, head over heart is usually a bit of a bummer though.
