Default Squeal or whistle after revving possible vacuum leak or power steering pump

https://youtu.be/R0FedtOs5oY <<< so this just started today. Click the link to watch the video I took of the issue.
Can anyone help me diagnose this annoying noise? I first thought it could be a vacuum leak but it's hard to tell where it's coming from I don't have a stethoscope. I am getting the impression it could be from the power steering pump. Serpentine Belts and tensioner are all new. Not the timing belt components though. Which I have an appointment for a timing belt job this week and it's going to cost over $1600 but this noise just started and I'm not so sure anymore that I want to sink more money I don't have into it. What do?

the cost of that timing belt job just totalled your vehicle. where are you getting it serviced ? i wouldn't pay that cost, it seems unreasonable.

with the money you saved, ask for a turbocharger boost pressure testing kit be applied. most likely there is a fault in that system. sounds like an air leak somewhere.

Yea I know, this shop is willing to work with me too since I only have $1000 and not the whole $1633 that is needed to replace the timing belt, water pump, idler and tensioner, also cam seals. Your link also brings me to around the same price. Everywhere I looked I get those quotes, it sucks. The shop will let me make the rest in payments, should I do it or cancel? Anyways, the noise I determined is the power steering pump. I added some atf4 and it went away. I plan to suck up the fluid and replace it with fresh fluid ASAP. I bet replacing the power steering pump is a PITA as well huh. I bet I could do that job though.

Prices are going up, I called three dealerships near me for the 102,000 mile service, which is the timing belt, flush, etc. and the prices, less the oil change, were $1600, $1500 and $1200!

Timing belt replacement should be in the range of $700 to $1000. This'd be at a reputable shop though, not a dealership.

Instead of a stethoscope you can press a long screwdriver to areas of your engine to determine source or location of the sound. Put your ear at the end of the handle. Yup, it's make shift, but works like stethoscope. Soap and water might spot a vacuum leak.

A piece of 1/2" heater hose with a funnel stuck in one end works pretty well for finding noises like that too. And you're right, on the turbo, it's a pain to replace the power steering pump.

So it's a vacuum leak i'm 99.9% sure. I'm smoking it out with a cigar to find the exact location, stay tuned I'll post back with result on where it's located. If I don't fix it my mechanic will when I drop her off tomorrow for the timing belt job. It's coming from the front around the intake manifold so it's either a gasket or inter cooler piping.

What do the lower and upper intake manifold gaskets look like are they two big gaskets or are they 8 individual o-ring gaskets for the turbo motor

$1700 later and timing belt, both cam seals, water pump ands lower motor mount replaced. Later that day after getting my car out of the shop I changed the intake manifold gaskets the noise is gone and engine runs great and holds boost.

good for you.
but really $2000 on a lower miles, better taken care of car and condition could have been a choice .
