Default 02 K frame Bolts.

Hello I am new to the PT forum, I am replacing a rotted K frame and the bolts holding the K frame to the Unibody are also not good. Does anyone know where to get replacement bolts? I have tried the local dealership they said they are discontinued.

Do you know the bolt size? If you can find the bolt size, it may be a size that is universal that you may be able to buy at a home depot or lowes. I was able to do that with my sway bar bolts. I don't know, but maybe.

Other than that I'd check online or your local salvage yard. If you have the part number you might be available to find some online.

I bet you know get the right tinsel strength off the rusted bolt head. Don't want them to shear off

Welcome to the forum

You don't want to get just any bolt that will fit the hole. Many bolts at general hardware stores are not automotive grade and the cheap plating won't hold up especially if you live in the rust belt area.

Your dealership should be able to look it up and their system should have the specs that you can then use to get a suitable replacement.

When you get a chance please go to the Welcome New PT Cruiser Members section and create an intro thread

Thank you all for the response, I found them on https://www.chryslerpartsinc.com/.

They are discontinued and cost me $50.00 for 4 bolts and 2 nuts for the front mounting point of the sub frame Shipped.

https://www.chryslerpartsinc.com/p/S...6506038AA.html

Part Number 06506038AA $ 5.46 SCREW. Cross Member To Side Rail, Front, Mounting. Hex Head.

https://www.chryslerpartsinc.com/p/N...6505595AA.html

Part Number 06505595AA $ 6.49 NUT. Cross Member Attaching, Mounting. M14X2. Crossmember. and Retainer, Front Crossmember Attaching, LCA Front Pivot Screw.

The car is for my daughter so having the correct bolts was worth the price for safety.

Okay.

Most bolts on a PT are marked with the harness on the head. Here's a guide:

US Grade 2 = approx metric property class 5.8
US Grade 5 = approx metric property class 8.8
US Grade 8= approx metric property class 10.9
US Grade (?) 8+ = approx metric property class 12.9

Salvage yard is my first choice. PT's are often the most common single model of car there. But if the bolts are no greater than 10.9, you may be able to buy generic Grade-8 replacement bolts at Tractor Supply Company. Unless I pick them up at a salvage yard (which I often do) I get usually get them at Tractor Supply. Whether metric bolts, dog food, clothes, Valentines Day gifts or baby chicks, Tractor Supply is a one-stop shop for us Hillbillies.

I saw that they were discontinued, but their parts system should still have the specs on their size

I have confirmed that the dealer does show the specs in their parts system. But as I said many times in other threads the dealer doesn't want to be bothered or give out the spec information that will allow the customer to look elsewhere for a cheaper price. I have talked to the parts manager at the dealer where I live and they have changed their policy on giving out specs for parts for your Pt Cruiser. The best thing to do is to have your own parts catalog from the dealer for your year Pt Cruiser.

The dealerships must realize that a lot of consumers these days use the internet for shopping.

I've never encountered a problem yet dealing with the parts department where I bought my PT from. They have even helped me with looking up parts for a couple of overseas forum members.

They really shouldn't have a problem with giving out the specs for something that's been discontinued.
