I also have the Michilin HydroEdge tires, I just let the tire dealer have the Badyears ,we went on vacation and did about 1800 miles all told and not a single problem not even a whisper of vibration or shimmy . Just my .02$

P.S. The tread looks cool also [8)]

I think that I had a problem again with tred seporation again too. I won't know for sure until I take it to my tire man tomorrow.[xx(]

SRG,

I too feel the same way you do concerning Goodyear. I think that your experience and many others just like yours have proven that Goodyear Eagles were a very poor choice for original equipment on the PT.

Please see my posting on this topic from several months ago. You should be able to get Goodyear to cover part if not all the expense of replacing the Eagles. You have to go through their customer service department in Akron, OH. It took a while, but they did come through for me. They paid for a brand new set of BFG Traction TA tires for my PT.

I couldn't wait for Goodyear. My wife's safety is far more important. We just changed out all of her tires to Yokohamas.

I am done with Badyears myself!!! Tonight on the way home from my inlaws I was within site of my house and heard the tell tale sound of a flat. Sure enough the tire I just replaced 2 months ago was flatter than a pancake. Took it off once we got home and the steel belts are all the way through. I am so frustrated, I could scream.

Any suggestions on what type of tires to replace with? I have heard Cooper and Yokohoma on this post but don't know much about them any information would be great.

When the first tires belt separated, I told the shop I was at that since it was under warrenty, I would like to see how Goodyear would handle it. So I went to the nearest Goodyear Tire store. They measured that I had 1/2 the tread left, so the warrenty would cover half the cost of the new tire.
Unfortunetly, the list price GoodYear uses on this tire was $225!!!!! So I would "only" have to pay Goodyear $112 for my "warrenty" replacement.
Needless to say. I went back to the independant tire store down the street, where they ordered me the Goodyear Eagle. The next day, they mounted and balanced it, and with the tax, the total bill was $92.
It would take years of reading about how the Goodyear company had completely turned itself around and was producing good tires at a good price, before I would even think about looking at one again.

SRG,

That is why I think it is so important that you press the issue with Goodyear customer service in Akron, OH. Even if you don't think they will do anything to compensate you, you need to go on record with all the gruesome details. They need to hear it so they have the chance to fix what is wrong.

The number I have is 800.321.2136 from the email contact I began with them last year concerning my tire issues. You should call them and spill your guts to them. They deserve to "feel your pain".

My badyears have flat spots in the belts when I first start to drive home from work, after sitting in parking lot all day in 90+ heat. There has always been a harse vibration in the wheels since I bought it. Atleast that is what I have been told to be the truth behind the vibration. The belts are not good.

My Coopers on another car were the worst tires I have ever driven on. Thankfully those tire they have quit marking since, wonder why. [}]

GoldenTurtle,

I am quite pleased with the BFG Traction TA tires. They are somewhat of a performance tire, being single direction. I noticed a very distinct improvement when I drove home from replacing the Eagles.

And best of all, Goodyear bought and paid for them for me
