Default My Boneyard Experience and Haul

It's been a long time since I shopped at my local self serve wrecking yard for needed parts at sharply reduced prices

Kinda interesting to see Cruisers in various states of decay, neglect or injured enough to be declared totaled.

Here's one with both air bags deployed

From a relatively slow speed collision

Curiously here's one with only one air bag deployed

I was wondering why all the Cruisers did not have tail lights until I opened this hatch. How convenient for me as I needed one

I was looking for a good Chrome wheel to match my 6 spoke but only found these dimpled and undimpled 5 spokes

Hey look a trans already pulled. Probably someone took just the non-turbo engine

Ah, just what I was looking for. A good condition rear bumper cover. I hope this 2nd gen will fit nicely on my 1st gen

If your first year Cruiser just won't sell you can always turn it in to the local junkyard for $300

Here's what I walked away with for 3 different cars I was shopping for

What did they charge you for everything?

About $200. The bumper and computer cost the most.

Looks like you got a dealer replaced pcm so it probably has fewer total miles/less use than if it was the original, so that's good!

I see you grabbed an under the seat drawer. Is it easy enough to install? My car doesn't have any and I saw one at the scrapyard, But decided to leave it, wasn't sure if it would fit

They are super easy to install. Your passenger side probably is set up for the drawer and the drawer is simply missing. If not, grab two passenger side drawers and brackets and you can install one on driver seat too. They will fit both sides.

I successfully installed the "under the seat drawer" on the driver's side today. It would have been super easy except my driver's seat had two wiring harnesses that had to be re-routed.

Also installed the near perfect 2nd gen rear bumper onto my 1st gen

And finally added the front half of the driver's side wheel well liner that has strangely been missing since I got this car a couple years ago.

I tried out the computer. My car started and then died. Would not start again. I had to put my computer back in. Now I know that I have to have this junkyard computer programmed in the event I need it.

I don't think that anyone has successfully put the underseat drawer into a Gen2. Maybe another project for a "Handy" person Just another cool feature that we Gen2 owner's can't have

But a Gen1 can have one under both seat, providing you're lucky enough to find another one to put under the driver's seat.

He has a Gen2, none under either seat

How can you tell, from the sticker on it?
