Default What bit is the screw holding in the tail light

I hit a bump awhile back and broke the top clip of the tail light, Just used silicon to hold it together to wait for the local scrap yard to open back up after holidays.

Silicon starting to fall apart, And scrapyard opens tomorrow

Can anyone tell me what screw bit this is? I'm clearly going to have to buy the correct tool, I tried using a flathead but it was just stripping it.

Ignore all the damn salt,Damn Canadian roads

I don't own any Torque bits other than the T55 for the engine mount

Thanks

It should be a T27 , I tried a T25 and it was too loose. ( didn't have a 27 near by so I didn't confirm. )

My 06 also has a slot for a flat blade screwdriver, tried it but things were too tight.

I think it is a T15 torx. I'm guessing though, it's too cold and dark to go out and look. Maybe I'm just lazy after a day at work.

I just went out to the garage and verified that it IS a T-27 Torx. The screws also have a slot for a flat blade screwdriver.

If yours is rusty at all, soak it with Liquid Wrench or P-Blaster for a few days first to avoid problems if possible.

This is my go-to for Torx screws:
https://www.amazon.com/Eklind-22571-...s=torx+key+set

Since I don't encounter Torx screws too often, it's convenient to flip through until you have the right one.

I noticed this but my tail light hasn't been removed in 12 years and wants to strip with the flathead

I used the Flathead you might tap the screwdriver with something hammer like to break any corrosion

Be very careful with the old plastic tail lights. I tried to slap the light back into the body thinking it would snap into place and the plastic shattered in several places.

That was a $27 mistake.

I've gotten my pt airborne over intersections, jumped off 10" curbs, acted like I was a rally car sliding and scraping through trees while slamming through and around puddles, played bumpers cars hard enough to lose my plate, yet never broke a light.

What kind of bump did you hit?
