If you answered “yes” then parts car is a really good idea.

My recommendation is to use a FelPro head set. You will have to buy the head bolts separately.

+1

I bought this exact Felpro head set for my 2005 GT. I was doing the timing belt and installing performance cams at the time, so I basically used the entire kit except for the head gasket itself. Everything was high quality and superior to OEM gaskets (or lack there of).

And yep, buying the head bolts separately is likely the best plan. For me, I look this stuff up first at Rock Auto and then figure out the price with shipping. Then I plug the part numbers into Amazon. Amazon has a terrible auto parts application system. But if you shop Amazon by part number, you can often find the same parts at the same price as Rock Auto but with free two-day shipping if you already have Amazon Prime.

if you just put a FORD motor in it, you wouldn't have head gasket issues.

Rob's right. The Ford engine will likely crack the block long before the head gasket blows.

PS: That's not saying much because the head gaskets fail on many a Ford V6 before 100,000 miles. Got a brand new motor from Ford one time over that one. And that head gasket on it blew as well.

Thanks for the feedback....
ordered
FEL-PRO ES71028 (bolts)
FEL-PRO HS26202PT (gasket set)

$91 Rockauto
.
I have anther issues
My #1 cylinder is at 140pis
all others@170-180
My leak down test on the head shows valve are tight (no leak down)
.
I think piston rings are in order I just don't want to go there because I don't think i can do that job without getting into the balancing shaft removal
.
So can You tell me whether or not this is true .?

Do i have to remove the balancing shaft's
to access the #1 & #2 connecting rod bolt's.?
.
.....Thanks ...W
