Default PRNDL switch not working

So I've got keys to start my newly acquired 09 NA automatic that had been repo'd.

NO Start.

PRNDL shows the car in 1st gear, Shift lever is in park.

The key interlock seems to be working. I have to have the key on to move the shift lever.

Somewhere I have a disconnect.

Ideas?

Here's what I posted in your other thread:

Chances are that the shift cable is messed up or out of adjustment. The repo company may have done this trying to get the car out of park without a key.

If me, I'd remove the center console and the air filter housing. Then I'd observe what's going on when I shift. It may be a simple fix.

Don't take the console apart. Does the trans hold the car in park and are you able to roll car when not in park? If so, the cable is fine.

On the front of the trans there are two plugs down low or one vertical, check these. ( see pics )

It's ALIVE . The cable from the shift lever to the trans is not doing its job. Shifted the trans manually (at the transmission) to park and it started right up.

Now to figure out how to get the console off.

Car seems to run well, we shall see.

You will have to bend the console a little where the emergency brake handle goes to get it off & back on...unless you can pull your handle way up straight.

Also, if you have rear power windows the removal is the same except after you unplug the center power supply...lift the rear of the console a few inches to get your hands underneath to unplug the power window switch.
