Default Bought 3rd on the road PT

Well guys and gals, Today my father and I bought our 3rd road worthy PT Cruiser today. It is a 2003 Base Woody model and at first I couldn't believe the post when I saw it. Especially for living in NY. Anyways, 2003 Base Woody Model with 48,600k Miles on the dash and no codes or anything. There is some rusting beginning by the rocker panels but that will be taken care of when it is going to be painted Black from White. This Gem spent her time in PA where they do not use Rock Salt in Winter and has been stored most of it's time. It is currently being repaired for rear drums, Hood Latch/Cable, and passenger side mirror. All of which, the parts for were included with purchase. This will be both my car and fathers car.

I personally own a 2008 Base Model (Boy, do I miss Cruise Control and GT models are non-existent from what I can find) in Inferno Red and I have had my troubles with it but to date since February 2017, She has ran like a gem and has only been in for scheduled maintenance and oil changes. Summer last year I got her some new shoes and painted her rims Red to match the car. Not exact but the rims make the car pop/stand out.

My father then has his personal 2005 Base Model PT which has been a very dependable car since we bought it in 2015 to replace his 2001 LE that blew it's Head Gasket with 286k miles.

All in all, The PT is the best vehicle he and I have ever driven and we will purchase them until we can no longer find them. I have hope to this day that Chrysler will some day bring them back to life.

Nice find! Especially in my area woodies seem to be fairly rare but always liked them.

I thought the base model had cruise control? Far as I know my 06 is pretty well base as it gets, and its got cruise control and I love it

I found a 2002 PT Cruiser Dream cruiser in the gold color in my area, I want it but have no space for it

Congratulations on the new Cruiser! Never paid much attention to the woodies until I saw a Black one recently. It was a very well taken care of car and the only mod I could see was the chrome wheels, but, it was the wood that really made it pop!

Good luck with yours and pictures when it's ready.

If you answered “yes” then parts car is a really good idea.

Yeah, I don't know how to make pictures show like that. I know how to upload pictures in the thread but don't know how to actually make them a part of the thread and display as part of the thread.

AJHockey3, Yeah I don't know, I thought all PT's had Cruise Control as every model I saw had it but I guess they skipped it on the base model for 2008. Who knows.

Also, As soon as we pick up the new PT from the Mechanic on Monday (Rear Drums, Hood Latch, Fluid Change and Inspection, Parts for which were included with the purchase of the car) I will be posting another pic of all our PT's side by side and post it in here. Hopefully figure out how to make pics a part of the thread by then.

Thanks for the comments.

Normally I post in here with an issue but this time, it was just a happy post. for once. lol.

*EDIT*- Thanks Wrench for posting that picture of mine in the thread.

I don't think I have ever seen those hub caps in such nice shape.

Must have been stored indoors, Nice body too

My Hubcaps were in decent shape on my 2008. Then I repainted them. Sanded them down, made them nice and smooth, primed them with 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of red paint and 3 coats of clear coat paint. Turned out nice and makes the rest of the red on my PT pop.

Probably was stored indoors. idk.

Got the new PT registered, inspected and home. Ran into a slight issue with the rear drums but We had the replacement Drums and Shoes but Cylinders needed replacement so we had to replace those and get a rear brake kit. Little more than expected but everything is A-Okay. She puuurrs like a kitten and I can't tell when it shifts or doesn't. Which now gives me one thing to worry about. With the PT's I can usually tell how fast im going by the gear im in and not being able to do so in this one, has me looking down at the speedo every few seconds when im speeding up. I'm good when cruiser control is active but Just on the 10 minute drive home, I caught myself at 5-10mph over already. No I do not have a lead foot either. Engines RPM's never go above 3,000RPM unless absolutely needed.

More Pictures coming soon.
