Default Water, Water, Everywhere!

Afternoon

We have had some torrential downpours here over the last day and a half and when I got into my PT this morning, there was a lot of water under the passenger floor mat. This has happened before and I cannot for the life of me find the source!
All the windows and doors are closed completely as is the sunroof. There is no water on the headliner or anywhere around any of the window or door seals that I can find. I haven't used the A/C in months so it isn't a condenser pan and it is clean water, not coolant, so it isn't a heater core.
Directly under the hood where the vents are I cleared any leaves/debris to no avail.

This has happened before, but not quite this bad.

Any suggestions?? I'm stumped!

I had a friend who had a Honda that had a similar problem, it turned out to be a bad seal on the windshield. It allowed the water in at the top followed around to the lower corner and filled his car whenever it rained.

Not saying that's your problem, but, something to check.

I agree with that. My 02 with sunroof had water in the overhead lights. I blew out all 4 drain hoses and no more water inside the car. The right front was clogged. Air compressor and nozzle did the trick.

Yep, the sun roof "seal" is just for wind not rain.

On another brand, the hoses rot allowing water to enter the car. When I had the windshield out for replacement I pulled the headliner for recovering and replaced all 4 hoses.

Thanks everyone for the advice!

Where are the drains located?

I had done work to the sunroof after I bought the car, when I got it, it would open, but not close. I ordered an entire new overhead console and that fixed the issue. By far my favorite fix, I love my sunroof.

If it's not the sunroof drains, you might make sure the cowl drain on that side of the car isn't clogged with leaves and other debris. I've seen that happen on different vehicles over the years. Especially if you have pine trees nearby.

On most cars, the sunroof drain hoses do not have a hose clamp so don't apply too much air pressure, you might blow the hose off the fitting.
rckstein and rob302 like this.

I think I used no more than 25PSI. A wad of crap came out of the right front drain. I elected to do all 4 while I was in the area just to MAKE sure all were clear. To add, I poured in water in the drain trough and watched each drain do what it was supposed to do and each drained quickly. Amen. MACGYVERMAN, did they drop the sunroof down when they worked on it???? I say this as they MIGHT have missed connecting one or more of the drains.
