Default Seat belt conundrum

Hello fellow PT Cruisers! I just came by to say that I stupidly folded down the back seat of my daughterís car without consulting this forum first! So what I now understand is a common problem in these cars means the back seat will forever be for 1! She is 16, Iím okay with this . While a bit frustrating, I also find it quite amusing that the seatbelt is locked and preventing the seat from folding back up. I hope the design team used this as a lesson learned.

I know I can take it to the dealer to have it fixed, but Iím cheap and nobody should be in her car with her anyway.

Happy Cruising! Still having a blast with this little thing.

Iím not very good at explaining it, buuuuut when I folded the seat down, it pulled the middle seat belt and locked it. The seatbelt is ďchokingĒ the seat now. When I try to pull it back up, it will go a few inches, but the seatbelt stops it from unfolding. Iím not sure if that makes sense. You can search this forum, there are a few other threads about it. Itís just crazy! The seatbelt mechanism is clearly broken on the inside.

Did you read post #9 in this thread, it seems to explain how to unlock the seat:

Rear Seatbelt locked with seat folded flat

Good instructions, but didnít fix our problem! We ended up taking apart the seat and detaching the two ends of the belt so we could fold the seat back up. The belt is still locked and can not be used, but it can be fixed if ever needed.
