Thumbs down High Speed Relay Problems

I have read on line about problems with the high speed fan relays ( Like even finding it.) Well, I can find mine, the problem is it is neither of the ones that is listed for a 2005 pt cruiser turbo. The closest one is a five prong. But it won't fit. Mine is a four prong. I had one matched up a year ago witch didn't solve my overheating problem( bubbling back into the reservoir when you shut it off. I have replaced the water pump, radiator fan and radiator. Now I am back to the high speed relay showing bad. Napa matched one up for me. When I took in the old one , I couldn't even hold it, it was so hot. The person at the desk and I could both smell it. Well, when I put in the new one, the fan wouldn't even come on low speed. I didn't know what to do, so I put in the old, overheated one and the fan came back on. I am completely bamboozled. I don. really want to start experimenting with four prong relays. Someone said I could go to the dealer and get the correct one. I guess I could and probably spend a hundred bucks on it. And what if it didn't solve my problem. All I can say is this doesn't say much for Chrysler.

Default Re: High Speed Relay Problems

They should be five prong unless you have some weirdly modified cruiser.

NAPA part should be AR533 Relay, about $23.

Dealership would probably be less than or equal to that.

Firstly I would swap out the horn relay (assuming your horn works) to see if the relay is really the problem.

You can buy them online for $10 or less. Just search for OMRON 21911C, or Standard Motor Products RY429.
