Default 04 PT Cruiser misfire

Hello all,

First off, thank you for all your valuable input with my new toy (04 PT Cruiser). The adventure continues. Still have random misfire and will quit on me often and have to wait at least a minute for it to start again. I replaces the cam and crank position sensor and did not fix this. Read somewhere that these cars have a frequent ecm/pcm failure. Is this true?
Did a search for one and no luck. I have a 04 PT Cruiser, 5 speed manual transmission. Any idea where I can find one or how to check the ecm/pcm to verify it's good/bad state? THANKS

You should NEVER just start shotgunning parts at a car hoping to fix it. Follow Steve's advice and get the codes checked on it first. Then go from there.

Have to 2nd Chuzz. Don't parts change. It's expensive and you can add another problem and never figure it out.

If you don't know how to troubleshoot this it is better and cheaper to bring it in somewhere.

If it is a random misfire all cylinders check for vacuum leaks, fuel pressure, compression test as starters.

If you answered “yes” then parts car is a really good idea.
