Default Trans issue

I just put a 2005 pt non turbo motor and trans in my 2008 pt cruiser. Had to swap some sensors but other then that everything went well until I noticed an extra plug for the trans.. my trans does not have the input for it but the 08 trans does.. what is this wire for and do I need it? Trying to figure this out b4 I go any further

I swapped wiring harnesses once when I was having issues (it end up being the PCM and grounds) with my 2006 NA Automatic. I noticed it had an extra plug near the trans, never connected it to anything, everything worked.

The 2008 trans is the VLP [variable line pressure type]. That is what the extra wire is for. I don't think the 2005 trans [non VLP type] will work in your car. The shifting process is different.

I would suggest checking with the salvage dealers for comparability of the transmission.
