Default Overcharged A/C

I thought I may have been out of refrigerant so I went to check the level and it read overcharged what should I do.

There's a variety of reasons that could be happening, which other members will probably be able to explain much better than me.

The questions I have are

1) is the compressor clutch engaging?

When I got my timing belt changed, my mechanic discharged the AC lines. I went to recharge it afterwards and got the same reading you are, I think it was around 100 PSI.

My mechanic forgot to plug in a connector to the compressor underneath the car, when I plugged it back in, I got the appropriate reading and was able to recharge no problem.

2) is the radiator fan coming on when you turn on the AC?

I've also never seen a DIY AC kit that had gauges for both the high pressure and low pressure lines, only the low side.

In my opinion you may need someone with both gauges to accurately diagnose what is going on. This is something I'd leave to a shop with the proper diagnostics if it becomes complicated.

If the clutch isn't engaging try jumping the AC pressure switch on the dryer. Seems like a common problem with PT's

Hi pressure switch could be holding the compressor from running

Did you pump the system down before adding freon
