Default Synthetic oil filter

I have been thinking, and I'd like to switch my PT to synthetic oil, It will save me money, and ill have to change it less, and my car will like it!

from my understanding you should change your oil every 3000miles/5000KM but synthetic is 6000miles/10000km right?

Anyways, I am actually having a hard time sourcing a filter ment for synthetic oil. In Canada I can't seem to find WIX,K&N,Mobile 1 filters. All I can get is napa filters that aren't ment for synthetic, or fram filters that advertise they are for synthetic, however I know FRAM gets a lot of flack. Any suggestions? I currently use basic fram PH3614 filters, but I would have to get the TG or XG series for synthetic.

Also anyone use Napa Synthetic Oil? Any complaints or should I use another brand.

Thanks for filter recommendations

Personally I've used the XG3614 a couple times and have done about 5-6k intervals. Different people will use different intervals, so pick whatever you feel comfortable with. If you consume any oil remember to check the level periodically. I know someone who switched to synthetic, did a longer drain interval, and then only had a quart and a half left at their next oil change because they enever checked it.

I've used Fram filters on all my vehicles for year with conventional and synthetic oils. No issues.

I use synthetic oil in all my vehicles and do oil changes every 7000 miles. My 2015 Ford Fiesta takes 5w20 and the manufacturer recommends oil changes every 10, 000 miles but I just don't like going that long between changes

One of my Pt Cruisers is using oil so I am planning to switch from synthetic oil to conventional. Don't want to clog up my CAT.

Oil analysis is a quick, nondestructive way to gauge the health of an engine by looking at what's in the oil. People use oil analysis for different reasons: to see if there are any problems developing, to see if their oil is working well in the engine, and to see if they can run longer oil changes. Get started with your analysis by ordering a free test kit.

WOW! Thats bad, My PT burns around abit less then a quart every 3000 miles or 5000km so I will probably have to add a quart half way through, Didn't think of that

Is that a thing? I never heard that one, but anything that burns oil, I would generally use cheapest available that fits the spec. That is invariably conventional.

Well, this is a great way to start a war on any automotive forum, but I'll throw in my vote. I only use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and a Purolator Boss filter. I change it every 3-5,000 depending on how I drive with it in there and the time of the year.
