Default Upgraded Speakers On Stock Radio

The audio system isn't bad, but I think it could be better, I would like to get some better door speakers, however I like the look and simplicity of the stock radio, is it possible to install speakers without changing the radio?

I was told the front speakers are 6 3/4 and rear are 6 x 8 is that correct?

Would something like this work https://www.ebay.com/itm/KICKER-41DS...-/201744099085

Fronts are 6.75" (I fit 6.5" with an adapter bracket) and rears are 6x8. I fit 1" dash tweeters into my '01 with a little innovation.

I personally have Rockford Fosgate P series speakers, but those kickers seem fine too.

You could stick with the stock radio, but for the extra money it would totally be worth it to get an aftermarket one and it really isn't much work. There are many makes and models that are pretty simple to work. I'd suggest the Pioneer one I have in my signature.

I also bought this for the wiring:

Cool Re: Upgraded Speakers On Stock Radio

I still have the factory radio as I don't care for most of the aftermarket head units. I replaced the speakers in mine with cheap Boss Audio ones. I got a component kit that had the separate tweeters and I mounted them in the little panel one the doors where the outside mirrors are. The sound improvement was quite good! A while later I added a 5 channel amp so I could really give them some power and also drive the MOPAR sub.

The speakers in your '06 are the same size, front and rear doors.

Several years ago I upgraded my stock ones to these from Kicker and they are a direct replacement, no modifications needed:

From the ad:

"Speaker upgrade includes two 6.5" Rear Door Speakers"

I didn't buy mine from that seller, but you can just search:

77KICK10

And numerous sellers should appear.

You can add a sub on the stock radio? How?

This is the MOPAR subwoofer that can be added to the PT, with a little modification of the rear panel on the drivers side.

This is from the same seller (Cass) that has been selling these for years, I bought mine from him in 2009:

This is what you get with the kit. It might look a little intimidating but don't worry, the speaker is already installed into the housing. All you have to do is to mount the speaker housing, modify the rear panel, and route the cable to the stereo.

The MOPAR sub works great with the stock stereo.

like rckstein posted it goes in the rear compartment in trunk and the harness plugs into the back of the factory radio. It works pretty well for a small 8" sub driven by a 80 watt amp.

I have since added a 5 channel amp to drive all the speakers in mine... (Alpine MRX-V60) so I have 4 channels for the 4 speakers and 1 sub channel...
