Question Replace ignition lock cylinder on 2008

I am at a loss and hoping someone can shed some light!
I'm trying to replace the ignition lock cylinder.. I've removed the upper/lower shroud, and whatever is surrounding the ignition (grey box with plug and ring surrounding ignition), but have no idea how to get the cylinder out. I've watched YouTube videos.. all point to a button on the outer part that you press (with key in on position) and simply pull out the cylinder. Well... NO BUTTON! The only button I see is a little yellow one well below the ignition, and it only allows you to push it in when the key is in on position, however, no effect.

HELP?!?

Try these steps from the Service Manual:

The "button" you are looking for is probably in step #5 of the removal process.

Do you have a copy of the Service Manual?

If not, I can send you a PM with a link to download it from my DropBox.

Thank you so much for that. No, I do not have the service manual, that would be GREAT!

Ok, thanks to your help I have finished replacing the lock cylinder. HOWEVER, to my horror, it still says the key is in the ignition when it is not. I'm not sure where I should turn next.

I wish I knew what the issue was. For me, it was more so the cables on the left side that plugs into the opposide end of the ignition lock cylinder. Apparently they rub and come loose, and power would disconnect while driving... come back on... go off... then limp home mode.

Removing the multi-function stalk and putting the wires back in and out like 5 times fixed it. Maybe it was just me cussing up a storm and the car gods took pity on me.

I hope you've had good karma lately, because this issue was a pain in the ass for me.

so what is the issue? The car shows that it is on or in standby/ready mode because it thinks the key is in there? So then the battery would eventually die if you left it like that?

Well, it doesn't seem to affect power at all, or cause battery drain. It is as if the car is turned completely off, but leaving the key in the ignition. It dings when I open the driver's door, and I can't use my power locks or remote lock.

so the instrument cluster won't turn on but the car starts just fine?

Then dome lights and stereo don't work, is that correct?
