Default Mice entered my vent duct again.

My blower quit working and there was that awful smell. So I removed the blower and it was full of mice crap. Wondering how did they enter the vent duct, removed the covers below the windshield and there was even a complete mouse nest. How did they enter the cavity? Everything is covered. I could not find a bigger opening then 1/4". One wire was chewed through.
Shouldn't be there a screen covering the fresh air entry? (see arrow).

Edit:I found entry openings for the mice. They enter through the wheel wells. There are drain openings on both sides,

big enough for the mice. Need to put some kind of screen there.

Here's a couple of other threads on the subject:

Cabin Air Filter 01

Do all PTs have a cabin air filter?

You need to add the filter box to your PT then a replaceable filter. Change the filter every year and you'll be surprised how much crap it keeps from going inside the vehicle.

Get some small paper bags, some mouse traps and a jar of peanut butter. Put some peanut butter on the trap trigger, set it and place it in the paper bag. Place them under the hood and inside the car. You'll have mice in a nice disposable bag! Of course if you're squeamish about taking them out of the trap, you can just toss it all. I'm too cheap to throw away the traps, so I take the mouse out of the trap and just put it in another bag for use again!

Trick I learned while living in rural France:

Mix 70% chocolate drink powder (Nesquik whatever) with 30% Plaster of Paris (most quick set fillers will do as they are mostly PoP)

Place where you know the mice go.

Goodbye mice.

The "nice" thing is that if they can't get outside to find water and they snuff it under the floorboards etc, the filler acts as a desicant and dries out the corpse so you don't get smells.

However, in the PT's case glueing a bit of mesh over the holes is probably better.

Now... think yourself lucky... you ever wondered why the Germans named one of their tank destroyers after a cute cuddly animal in WW2..?

Well you won't be wondering after you see what a Marder can do to the underbonnet of a car in half an hour

Serious money...

put in a cabin filter. you could also create a wire mesh in front of it to make sure the mouse doesn't eat through the paper filter.

Get the cabin air filter housing and install a filter. Some of the filter boxes came with a simple screen others just gently hold the filter in place.
