Default 06 gt turbo

I'll be replacing Motor mounts, water pump, timing belt soon. Close to 100K. Because it's a GT are heavy duty parts needed or available & do I need To be replacing or checking anything else, like the Turbo etc. Where is the best place to get good parts?

While you're doing the timing belt, and the area will be torn apart, you should also consider replacing: water pump, tensioner, idler pulley, 2 cam seals, crank seal, and center motor mount to include a new bolt.

I like OEM parts.

I think the first question should be what brand do I get for each part needed?

He means you should absolutely without question do these.

There are some things in life you only ever want to do once, and one of them is dismantle the front end of a PT Cruiser engine

Yep, the first time the timing belt work was done, the shop did not replace the cam seals, and I didn't know that those should be considered in the total job.

A couple of years later, the center motor mount was beginning to fail. That also should have been replaced on the first timing belt job.

Per the Service Manual, to replace the center mount: remove engine.

But the mount can also be replaced while doing the timing belt job. So I opted to have the timing belt work done again, far sooner than it needed to be, to replace the failing center mount.

While a different shop was doing the 2nd timing belt job, they also noticed that the cam seals had been leaking, for quite some time, probably not too long after the 1st timing belt job had been completed.

When my PT comes due for another timing belt job, all the same things will be included, again.

You can also get OEM (MOPAR) parts from RockAuto.

Get all the part numbers from your local dealership, then use the search feature on the RA website as I have found that a lot of the OEM (MOPAR) parts don't show up when you use their filters for your specific vehicle.

Also when searching for MOPAR parts, sometimes it helps to add or delete the leading "0" in a MOPAR part number.

I recently bought a bunch of tune up parts for my PT, all MOPAR, from RA and saved a bunch of $ over the dealership, even with my work discount, and Amazon.

Here's a link to a RA discount code good until 10/05/18:

RockAuto.com Discount Code for Parts & More - Expires October 5, 2018
