Default slight drag on passenger brake front

ive got a 2003 pt 4 door. the thing is from new york. ive had to to alot of work that i did not expect to because the rust. the most recent is the passenger brake hangs up some. not enough to lock up or catch fire but enough to get rotor hot and have a slight pull to passenger side. i noticed that when i turn off max trac, it seems to not be there. now ive put new pads and rotors and lubed the slide pins. ive also removed alot of rust from caliper and spindle. ive changed brake fluid and it seemed to come out easy. now ive noticed that the abs ring on axle has alot of rust. so much so that there is hardly any space between the teet on hte ring could that be causing the computer to keep residual pressure on line and causing this? the piston in the caliper seemed to move with ease and so did the caliper on the sliding pins . the other possibility is collapsed rubber hose

I'd jack up the pass. tire and rotate the tire. There should be minimum drag. Have somebody push on the brake pedal ---- and release. There still should be minimum drag. If not, crack the bleeder screw. If the tire still drags, change the caliper. I'd change both calipers as they seem to fail shortly after replacing the pads up here in the north country.

It could also be a failing rubber brake hose. I'd change both sides if it were mine.

Make sure the pads slide easily in the bracket they rest in. I've had to grind to fit most of the one I've purchased. And lube the ends of the pads where they hit metal.

+1

This is the most common reason for what you are experiencing.

Mine was dragging and eating up the inside of the rotor from uneven pad wear. Wound up being a combination of a bad hose and the caliper was stuck shut. I was able to free it, clean it up and lubricate it with silicone paste and copper anti seize. Keep in mind, once you find the source of the problem, you will need to do a full front brake job. But don't let that dissuade you! Pray it isn't the ABS solenoid.
