Default Need ideas QUICKLY!

Hi,
I need to move a 2003 PT Cruiser Limited with an automatic transmission asap! The owner died and the daughter doesn’t know where the keys are. The landlord will take possession of the house at the end of the month. I just want to get the car out of the garage and off the property.

Can I disconnect the transmission shifter cable at the transmission and manually put the transmission in neutral and push it?

If not, do you have any ideas?

Thanks,
Dan-O

Get a locksmith to cut a key. If ur main concern is getting it off the property, I wouldn't worry about getting a chipped to key to drive it.

Yes. Open the hood, remove the air filter housing and take the shift cable loose. Then you can turn the level by hand. Make sure and release the parking brake if the last driver set it.

Here is some more guidance at this link:

Move car without key

Default Thanks Handy!

You’re the Best Handy! It worked like a charm! Now I can see about having a mobile locksmith come by and do it up.

Or is there a better way of getting a key made?

When I get some time, I’ll have to post my story about my PT Cruisers!

Thanks for all the help!
