Default Oil Leak?

'03 Limited Edition, 43K miles

I've been noticing some small oil (?) stains in my driveway and, upon inspection, there appears to be some slight dripping from the top of the splash guard on the passenger side. Any ideas as to what the source might be? Thanks all.

Bad crank seal...check to see if you have any oil around the top of the alternator.
If you have a leak, the timing belt will throw it around.

Thanks, Lion. Looking from above, the area around the top of the alternator appears to be dry.

The crank seal isn't above the alternator. Looks like you have some work to do, so go get that seal and get to it!

Not that I know there is anything wrong with these suggestions, but I would want to be a whole hell of a lot more sure before I started in on crank seals. In fact, if it were my crank seal I would probably just let mine dribble out and put some cardboard on the garage floor.

Before liquids hit those splash shields they can move all around. Oil from the top can take a very circuitous route to the bottom and things more from side to side, front to back. Valve cover gaskets and oil pressure sending units leak and while the oil pressure sending unit is more to the driver's side, mine would sometimes drip on the passenger side when it went out. It's not very helpful, but IMO the best advice is to get it up in the air and look.
