Default Stalling and Creaking Noises

I've noticed two issues with my car lately. Firstly there is this creaking noise coming from under the driver floor. I'm pretty sure the bearings in the CV joins are just dried out but it could obviously be something worse. I want a second opinion from you guys.

Additionally, my car has stalled, twice! Twice as I pull up to a stoplight my car just turns off locking the steering wheel. I was able to restart both times with no issues and continued on my merry way. What do you think can cause this? Bad fuel pump? Bad distributor cap? I appreciate any help to diagnose!

The creaking is likely a bad lower control arm bushing. This will usually make a creak or bump when driving over a pothole. A bad CV join usually creaks or pops while turning.

If the check engine light is not on and there are no trouble codes, then the stalling may be the ignition switch. You can change this without having to change the lock and cylinder. But check for codes first. There is also a chance of water or trash in the fuel. I like to add half a bottle of the cheap STP fuel cleaner in the red bottle plus half a bottle of HEAT in the yellow bottle along with half a tank of fuel. That will often remove any water or gum in the tank.

Check the sway bar bushings. As for the stalling, you DO NOT have a distributor cap on the 2.4 engines. Check the coil connections for corrosion on the plug wire connections.

There is no CEL or fault codes. I'll keep all these in mind though thanks!

Strange? what did you use to check it?
If your engine shuts off as you described you will get a DTC! If anything your monitors will show not complete or the proper term READY.

Use a proper Diagnostic tool at the diagnostic connector not the key dance. And try to use one that you can check and view your monitors.

I used a OBI2 scanner I purchased off of Amazon. You can find it here.

Does your Pt Cruiser have the turbo?

Check the PCV Valve and hose. On the PT, it is in about the easiest place to access, right on top of the engine above the camshaft position sensor and right next to the ATF dipstick.

This and other vacuum leaks can cause stalling at low RPM's

I see you have a 2008 with turbo. One member had his Pt Cruiser with turbo stalling with no codes and was told it had something to do with overboost. Mechanic thought it might be the waste gate actuator not working properly but the member never posted the actually solution.
