Default Bought PT...150,000 miles...what should I have done to it?

I bought a 07 GT (5-speed) that has 150,000 miles. It is already having some shifting problems.....so, since I don't know what all has been done to it, I'm having my mechanic/cousin go ahead and change the timing belt, water pump & tensionor, serpentine belt, and possibly the center motor mount. Is there any other "preventative" maintenance I should him to do while he has it?

Do the PCV valve. Its a cheap item. Mine dissolved while driving and I hat to remove the Valve cover to get all parts out

And of course the usual suspects:

- oil+filter
- brake fluid
- gas and air filters
- coolant (maybe thermostat while system is drained - guess it already will be for the timing belt job)

Further, check spark plugs, lines and the ignition module. Then you should be good to go.

Thanks for the info!

Having a third key made now is a lot cheaper than a second if you lose one.
A month after replacing the timing belt/water pump on my brothers cruiser the water pump inlet tube started leaking (easy fix). My brother thought it was the water pump and was going to junk the car.

I would also change the transmission oil/fluid.

I don't think any PT's have a replaceable fuel filter, I think it is part of the pump and sending unit assembly.

Since it will be all apart anyway, make sure he replaces the crank seal and the two cam seals. If they begin leaking down the road, it could mean basically doing the timing belt job a second time for $10 worth of seals. Also, this is the time to inspect and replace the middle motor mount too.

With those miles I would take a look at the shifter bushings. My '02 5 speed with 120K they fell apart at the shifter end. Bought BUGGER BUSHINGS to replace all 4 like I did on my 98 Neon R/T and what a difference. Nice and tight now.

Look over suspension especially the front lower control arms rear vertical bushings for sag / debond… see anything unusual replace the arms.

What myckee said- change out all the hard-to-access stuff that's exposed while you've got the timing belt covers off. You may end up kicking yourself repeatedly if you don't.
