My camera is too awesome I guess? I think I created this profile when I bought the car with 600 miles on it. It wont let me upload pics from my android. How do you get pics onto this forum?

The photos I take are 3264 x 1836. To prep them for upload, I reduce the size to 25%. That makes them 816 x 459 which is a nice size to post online.

For attachments, the max file size is 97 KB. I use the old Microsoft Photo Editor program that originally came with MS Office 2000. With that I can down-sample the files size to get me under 97 KB. There's other programs to do this as well and there's even some online websites where you can upload your photo and then down-sampling it to the file size you want.

For me, I can prep a photo in less than 30 seconds for upload. But I do a lot of them. Here's one for example:

There's a free software I use called irfanview. You can load a batch edit from the program and cut down a lot of files to size and shape in seconds, but you need to be fairly competent with computers to understand how to use it.

On the rare occasion I have asked my daughter or son to load a photo for me here, they use a site called imgur.com. You might try that.

The Forum will reject photos over the 97KB maximum so reduce your photo KB count to comply with the 97KB maximum on the Forum. If I can do it any one can.
I use ImgBB, a free on line site, to do the photo KB reductions. I also use Paint, a program that came with my Windows 7 computer on photos that need further KB reduction if ImgBB doesn't reduce them enough. Some photos can be reduced with just the Paint program.
I hope that info helps. It was passed on to me by Forum members a while ago when the Forum format changed. I'm not a computer wizz.

Happy PTin', ptprice

Just use a free online host. You can then post away without worrying about file sizes. Also, you retain control of those images. You can change, modify, and delete whenever you desire.

Yep,

I need to make a video on using an online site to prep photos for posting. The best site I've found is:

https://www.reduceimages.com/

You can upload the photo as is, resize it and down-sample it to below 97 KB all in one step. Next to having software on your own PC, this is likely the best and fastest choice.

For me, I have mixed feeling about using a free online photo hosting site. Those sites seem to come and go over the years and their policies on hot linking change too. It's really a shame to go through some of the older threads on forums and see long detailed threads where all the photos are now gone because the offsite image hosting service went out of business or changed it's service. The galleries and attachment caches on forums seem to last longer without changing. Thus, as long as the forum lasts, there's a good chance that the photos I've posted here will last as well. I know that one day, this and the other forums I visit will likely be gone. But I'd like my photos to remain until that day. And at least for me, I'm not that worried about the forum management not wanting us to delete our own photos. I have copies of all of them on my storage drives. So no matter what happens online, I still have my photos and they are still mine.

I also have my own commercial web space where I can host images if I want to. I actually use that for some other forums where there is no onsite hosting. But the problem with this is that one day, I may decide having my own commercial web space is no longer affordable. I only have it as a legacy of when I was in business for myself. And today I only use it for fun so I'm not sure it's worth the $70 a year it costs me along with a handful of domain names and email. And I don't want to have to maintain it in the future just so images I've posted on forums will remain viewable.

In summary, I believe posting images as attachments or in the gallery here is the best choice for me right now to help assure my images stay visible as long as this forum remains.

That's a valid point about having the images available until the forum folds up. Well, I still have never learned how to post images here and can't be bothered to learn now.
