Default What this wire do.

Hello.
I did a bit of engine housekeeping and
found this wire disconnected.
Just a bit of background why I did not see
this before.

Had few minors hick-up problems, nothing major.
Visited several service shops in between, and today I found
below pic. wire either was cut or whoever did service was a bit rough
during the service.

Being "all things equal" maybe it was I, that did not paid attention.

Would like to know what I think it is "ground wire", was originally connected
to, and what/maybe why it was either disconnected or unintentionally pulled
out of connection.
One other question, with this wire disconnected, will somehow car battery
will be drain.
Just installed new battery, mine was 4 years old.
I have looked in "Chilton repair manual" but since mechanically/electrically challenged I am lost in car electrical diagram.

Thank You.

Jack.

I could not resize the pics I took
to proper size. Will work on it today
or will retake new pics for correct
format.
Jack.

Looking around forum for same issue,
found in below post and a picture of the same problem
I am having ( post # 7 in the tread).
I have not read whole thread yet,
but as soon as I get home will do so.
Hopefully will find answer.
In my case the wire only connected to the fender upper part.
The other side is a bare wire. I did isolated using electrical tape
till sort out the issue.
Thread info. below.

wire help?

Jack.

That pic is just an extra ground from the hood to the body. These cars have tons of ground wires compared to older cars. From the strut to the body, exhaust to body, etc, etc. It being broken is no big deal. Mine is and so is damn near every one I see in my yard.
