Default My PT Cruiser Story

Back in January 2017, my Ford Explorer’s transmission let go. I really didn’t want a car payment, so I was in the market for something used. I always wanted a PT Cruiser, so now was a good time to get one. My neighbor had several PT Cruisers, so I thought I would ask her about them.

She told me her favorite one was the 2003 “Woody”, but she offered me a great deal on her 2006 PT Cruiser Limited. The offer was too good to pass up! Over the next year, we talked and I would help her out with things around her house.

In March, I noticed that her Woody had a flat tire. She had 2 other PT Cruisers, so she had transportation. I offered to change the tire out with the spare. She asked if I could come back the next day because she wasn’t feeling well. She died that afternoon while I was at work.

Later I found out she left me the Woody. I helped the family sell one of the PT Cruisers and fixed the 2005 convertible. The family sold me the convertible at a “can’ Pass it up” price. Now I have the 2006 Limited (91,000 miles), the 2005 Touring Edition convertible (109,000 miles)and the 2003 Woody(62,600 miles).

Sorry to read about your neighbor lady's passing. But at least she left her PT Cruisers in good hands. I recommend a gravel pad and car cover for the convertible. With two wagons to drive, I imagine that the convertible will be your sunny day car like mine is.

As we've discussed before, the 1st Gen PT's are going to be easier to modify and there are more available accessories, if you are into that kind of thing. If you are planning to sell one of them, the two wagons will be of approximately equal value if in the same mechanical and cosmetic condition. Year model and even the the edition and features don't seem to matter much right now because prices are bottomed out. And of course, the convertible will be worth a little more if in good shape. A car cover can help it stay that way.

I am sorry to hear about your neighbor and friend, but it is heartwarming that you were able to make such an impression on her and her family.
