Default 2006 PT Cruiser No Headlights

My headlights have been out for awhile, I replaced the bulbs and they do not work, I have disconnected the battery and letting it sit to hopefully reset the TIPM. There doesnt seem to be any fuses for the headlights, what else can I do?

Probably need more details. Low beams only? Low beams & high beams? Any other circuits not working?

I've been looking through my manual, it's for a 2001 so your wiring could be different. There are fuses and possibly a relay, they are likely in the Power Distribution Center Fuse Block under the hood, behind & below the battery. (The fuse panel on the lower left dash seems to be more for accessories.)

I studied the circuit in my 2001 Service Manual. There's some stuff going on I don't quite understand. But the bottom line is that they route a lot of the power circuits for the headlamps through the multi-function switch (the turn signal, headlamp, driving lamp stalk). I've had to replace the multi-function switch twice on my PT, and I wanted a better understanding of why. The multi-function switch is troublesome, just do a search. The other thing is that the electrical connector for the multi-function switch looks like it takes a beating, heat-wise. Again, too much power through the thing.

Just some thoughts.

06 wiring is different then 01-05.

This is a Canadian Model so we have daylight running lights here, they work fine just the headlights. These Canadian cruises the highbeam and daylight running light are the same thing. so I guess the lowbeam?

Being different wiring and the DRLs I hesitate to comment further. However, on the '01 PT there are two separate fuses in the PDC Fuse Block, one for each left / right low beam headlamp. The left & right high beam headlamp power appears to be connected together.

Grounds sometimes go bad and since you in the snow belt you might want to check the grounds at each headlight. Thin stranded wires were used and run to the grounding point near the battery on the inside of the left fender. Don't merely just look at the crimped bunch and hop they are good because none look broken.
Use a voltage meter and check for continuity, ground from the battery to the light connector at the light.
Light control on 06 up is controled by the TIPM (fuse box by battery)and or the PCM (computer on the firewall)
I think I lost my lights on one and had to replace the TIPM.

06 was the first year for the TIPM, AJ. BUT that depends on the manufacture date. Does yours, in fact, have the TIPM or not? If so, and that's what the problem is, I'd suggest you get in touch with Myckee.

I would suggest checking the DLR to see if it is switching properly.

There is a myth going around that early PT Cruisers don't have the TIPM/CANBUS system. This is false. Mine door sticker is dated 8-2005, and has the TIPM. Imagine the confusion of parts manuals, service manuals, and two emissions tests required for the same model year? I believe the Caravans and the T&C's and maybe others had the old system through 2007.

The change over to 2006 PT Cruiser probably happened in late June of 2005. CANBUS, TIPM, wiring, changes to fascia , bumpers, headlights and interior
took a little time, Production probably started in July 2005.

I took it to a shop and it's the tipm, can I grab one from a junk yard and plug it in? Or must it be programmed?
