Default Steering column u-joint

Took our PT for state inspection today. It passed, but was told by the inspector to check out some play in the steering column u-joint under the steering wheel. Was told that if they didn't know us they wouldn't have let us pass inspection. Anyone else run into this issue before? If so, how difficult should it be to fix?

The U-joint in the steering column is not designed to be a serviceable part. Also, it's more likely that the rubber disk on the linkage at the steering rack has gone bad and is the cause of the slack. If you find that your u-joint is truly bad, consider a whole steering column out of the salvage PT. Just use your original ignition cylinder and SKIM module and you will be good to go.
rockandroller and chuzz like this.
