Default Air Conditioning stopped

2006 Pt Ctuiser Convertible

Air has been working great, now not.

The fan does not appear to start when I turn the air on.
Both the high pressure line and the low pressure line get very hot.

The fan does work on high speed, I hear it kicking on occasionally.
The car does not heat up more than halfway, which is normal.
I put a guage on the low pressure line and it reads slightly in the red..so its full.

Put a new 2 speed fan on sbout 2 years ago.

Suggestions??

The low speed on the radiator fan is one of the most common component failures on the Pt Cruisers if you use the air condition all the time.

With the engine cold, start the engine, turn on the A/C and see if the radiator fan turns on. Post what you find out.

And don't forget, on modern AC systems the AC compressor runs when the HVAC system is in defrost mode in order to dry the air blown across the windshield. So even if you aren't using the AC, the AC compressor still could be in operation.

No, the fan does not seem to turn on when I turn the A/c on.

Check the plug to the fans. Known problem area on the PT's.
