Default Rear axle bumper stops

I am doing the brakes and shocks on my 03 turbo. I am also replacing the bumper stops for the rear axle while I am in there. Do the bumper stops pop in and out ?

Yes they do. You should be able to pull them out by hand. You may need to stick a plastic pry tool up one side to depress the foam past the tang. Or you may be able to press in on the foam enough by hand.

They'll probably just crumble when he touches them.

The original ones on my 2001 PT Limited did crumble. But they haven't on the later models. Of course these were southern cars without much exposure to road salt.

I replaced those with these I found on a later model salvage car.

And of course, I went aftermarket on my 2005 GT.

The drivers side did not need to be replaced but I did it anyway since I purchased new ones. The passenger side did crumble.
