I would suggest checking for transmission codes.

I find that hard to believe considering you only have one gear.

Most scanners will not read the TCM.
So my question is how did you determine NO CODES?
May I ask what scanner you used to connect to the OBDII diagnostic connector?

There is a code...... trust me!

Have you tried a computer reset? (take the positive battery cable off of the battery - then short the positive cable to ground for a few seconds...)

This has gotten me out of limp mode on several occasions...

Disconnecting the battery in the fashion mention only serves to turn off the dash warning light nothing more. It has always been a PT Cruiser MYTH that it accomplishes anything else!

If it were that simple people would have been doing this for years to get their car Emission passed in California.

Limp mode is a little different and the TCM does not recognize disconnected power only the ECU but the last operating memory is stored in the monitors. When the power is re-connected the check systems starts, should the problem causing the issue be corrected the DTC will not light. But if there is still a problem the monitors may remain in fault and not yet give a DTC and warning light. In short you mess up being able to actually solve the cause of a DTC by disconnecting the power to the car.

I know I haven't solved the problem but after 2 restarts and limp mode comes back on hopefully with codes this will tell me something
Last time I did this it would run with no problem for 2 restarts then back to limp mode and codes
Never could figure it out finally replaced computer problem gone 8000 miles later it's back so to get to work disconnect battery after 2 restarts
Will let you know what happens hopefully I can get to the bottom of this

LOL The ECU will sometimes take 2-4 completed cycle to verify all is correct That is why you have the trouble every other time you start and drive the car. And if you went into the monitors you would find them actually still in fault. You accomplished NOTHING by disconnecting the battery. LOL

Really stop disconnecting the battery use a proper scanning tool connected to the diagnostic connector, read the DTC then properly clear them drive the PT as soon as you get the engine light check and note the DTC. This is a better way to solve the problem..With the PROPERLY obtained ECU information you can then go to the problem solving procedure and you will find the problem.
