Default Black lower piece on front bumper?

What is this piece good for? Absolutely nothing, or something?

After getting my front fixed Im thinking to taking this off so as I don't scrap it up. So far I have not (knock on wood).

What are peoples thoughts?
Thanks

Arguably(spelling) the "air dam" effects the way that air flows through the radiator and around the motor. It creates a vaccuum right in front of the motor and below what you can see drawing the hot air down under the car instead of up over the motor where it will just overheat the motor and introduce more heat into the passenger compt.

The air dam on the NA is larger than on the turbo, but it is important on both. I would highly suggest you keep the air dam on your NA (it is integrated into the front facia of the turbo so you don't really have a choice). As Technobear said, the air dam is needed for proper air circulation to the engine.

Colby,
What you can do is buy this from Moss....

Then take the PT out at night and put on a light show and you go scraping and sparking merrily along

You could really put on a show and follow an old low rider trick: bold some magnesium plates to the understide of it. THey will light up like sparkers when they scrape.

wouldnt reccomend it seriously though.

I also got the polished stainless lip cover from Moss and installed.
Really looks good with the chrome grill.

Wow,
I had no idea that stupid piece of plastic down there had such a job to do.

Well my fears are gone. Now that I have successfully scraped it on a parking lot incline in the rain the other day leaving the dirt road to get on the pavement at are local ballpark.

Oh well, at least it in not as bad as when it got wrecked.

Hey,
Thanks for all the info on this plastic thing.

Crewzin,
Where did you get those chrome things in the bumper that go near your fog lights. Im thinking about trying to get those for mine. Also where could I find the chrome bumper inserts things. Thanks.
