All that I have seen would need to be fully disconnected and removed in order to empty. For that reason be real picky about where you mount it so you can remove it easily.

If you use an air compressor oil separator (about $20) the bowl unscrews & can be emptied back into the oil filler tube in less than a minute. Mine gets about half full in a thousand miles.
I have a picture, but evedently pictures from other PT sites aren't welcome here....

Where did you get it?

I'm surprised nobody has found a way to mod it so a line runs into the oil filler tube.

I know where to place a catch can by the airbox. If I understand correctly, I will need to place a catch can here (see picture below) as well?

Did I correctly show the flow of the air with the red arrow?

Taikuchin, do you have a manufacturer and model number of the one you use? I tried calling a few compressor places and they had no idea what I was talking about.

Eddie, the picture you show with the red arrow is correct on both counts: 1 - the arrow is pointing in the correct flow direction, 2 - you do indeed want a catch can there.

In fact, that is the ONLY place you want a catch can! As I said before, the line on the driver's side that normally connects to the stock airbox is primarily an air make up line and needs to be able to draw air INTO the cylinder head function properly. If you connect it to a CAI you will deny this line it's abiltiy to draw air in - Bernouli's Principle will take over, and the air volume flowing through the CAI will actually begin pulling air from that line as well.....the opposite of what you want. The only time that line expels air is when the car is under boost. This is another reason why the AirRaid intake is such a good setup.

The line in the pic you point to, Eddie, is always flowing from the cylinder head to the intake manifold, and a larger volume of oil moves through this line than through the other. There is actually a valve on this side (the PCV valve - positive crankcase ventilation) which prevents air from coming in. Splice your catch can into this line, which is what I did, even though the can itself is behind the battery. I now have a simple breather element on the driver's side line and will post a pic or two over the weekend showing this.

Thanks. I just wanted to clarify. I couldn't fine the fuel filter that looks like this. I went to Autozone & Pep Boys, even Sears & Home Depot under the compressor equipment. I did find something similar, but they were large white plastic fuel filters. They were cheap, but I didn't like the look of them, especially in my engine bay. There was this one I saw at Autozone. I was contemplating on buying, but I figured it may not be large enough to hold the oil. I held of from buying it and figure I would do more research. It was nice, since all I had to do was cut into hose from the PCV to the intake manifold and insert it inbetween. But like I said, it may not hold enough of the oil. Worse comes to worse, I could just empty it weekly.

The nice thing is, there are some shiny parts, and the fittings comes in various sizes (1/4, 5/16, & 3/8). I'm concerned that the fitting for the hose is made of plastic. Will the plastic be safe?

After looking at this page even more, there is this one that looks like a chrome fitting. The only thing I need to know is what size the hose is. Does anybody know what size the hose is from the PCV to the manifold?

The couple of filters you linked to aren't really what you want. Those are fuel filters and are designed to remove solids from a liquid and pass the liquid through. The filter shown in the $20 catch can website is designed to filter solids AND liquids from air, which is what we want to accomplish.

I found this link http://www.houseoftools.com/product.htm?pid=15005 but the filter is a little pricier than $20. I haven't gone to my local PepBoys, AutoZone, Kragen, etc yet, but I may over the weekend just to see if I can find the right parts.

Strange thing is I couldn't find anything for the Amflo 3001 pictured on the $20 catch can site.

EDIT:Well now, how's this for luck? I just found these three items on ebay, but the last two may have fittings that are too large although I'm not really sure on that.

Thanks, you've been alot of help. With your help, I found this SRT Forum that listed the following...

Quote:
quote:$20 Oil Catch Can

Max flo mini air filter found at home depot
1: Campbell Hausfeld mini air filter (MP5138)
2: Solid Brass Male Barbs (BC3207)
5- Feet of 3/8 Fuel/Vacum Hose

OR

Amflo mini air filter

1: Amflo Mini Air Filter (3000-RET)
2: Solid Brass Male Barbs (406-RET)
5- Feet of 3/8 Fuel/Vacum Hose
The Amflos are hard to find, but I did find a site that sells the MP5138.

FYI, here's a detailed diagram on the catch can setup for those interested.
