Default Anyone install Borla Dual exhaust?

I should be getting my Borla duals today. As you can see from my previous post, I'm trying to ease the load on my wallet by trying to do some of the install myself, since a local shop is charging me about $65 for the install. I might try to install the exhaust, but I was wondering how simple of a job it is.

1. Does it require welding of any parts?
2. Is the factory exhaust easy to remove as well?

I had a muffler shop do mine (MOPAR / Borla duals), but I watched the entire process. The stock set-up was a bear to break loose. You should be able to do it, you'll probably cuss a lot. The MOPAR / Borlas went on easy and fit just right. I had mine spot welded once in place so I wouldn't have to worry about them moving over time. By the way my muffler shop charged me $100.00 for the removal and install. Well worth it to me not to mess with it. Good luck!

Just back the PT up on ramps, and you'll be fine.
No welding needed.
How easy old one is to get off depends a bit on how many miles - the more miles, the harder the old will be to get off - you twist while pull to separate the pipes - mine wasn't bad at all, but I did it with few miles on.

I should have no probs removing the old one. It's only about 2 months old (4k). I suppose I could sell the stock exhaust or just keep it around for a spare. I'll probably still do alot of cussing anyways.

I found it to help if I put the rear on ramps AND put the fron on jackstands. You need room to swear.

Thanks everyone! A friend of mine help me do the install of the hitch and the Borla Dual exhausts and it was no problem. The longest part was actually removing the old exhaust. We didn't bother welding anything to make it easier to remove it incase I want to change them. Saved myself $165 ($100 for the hitch, $65 for the exhaust). I love Mopar stuff since they fit PERFECT! I have easy access to my spare, which was the one thing I was worried about.

I'm glad, got most of my mods installed (Airade CAI, Borlas, Hitch, Window Deflectors, Rebel hood struts, TYC Backup, TYC Tail lights, etc.) all in one day. When I told him that I forgot to bring my Mopar BOV, he was disappointed. He wanted to put those on to hear how my car sounds. I guess I'll bring those in next week when I get my Eibach anti sway bars in.

I'll update my profile with my mods along with my Cardomain and PTCruiserWorld profile later. I'm starving right now, so I'll get something to eat first before I do.

Wow, I remember you coming into the forum knowing nothing about the PT, and it was bone stock. Now look at you! Lol

LOL. Yeah, just getting embarassed going to PT events in a plain Jane. I've been wanting to put stuff on my car anyways, but I didn't know how it would look on my car. I got a chance to look at several cars on my first PT club meeting and the block party to get ideas what I want. I think I spent more time in the parking lot looking at other people's modded PTs than inside the event itself.

My only mods left are:
- Stage 2 (will stop there)
- BOV (already have it but need to be installed
- Eibach anti sway bars (waiting for shipment)
- Muth Signal mirrors on Foldaway '03 mirrors (on hand, but need time to install)
- Chrome Door spears (on hand, but need time to install)
- Tinted front driver & passenger windows

"Yeah, just getting embarassed going to PT events in a plain Jane."

NO-ONE should ever get embarassed going to an PT Event or even a PT Car Show with a "STOCK" PT.....Being with PT friends and sharing your interests in the PT is much more important than to be there with the Most Mods....a feat you will never accomplish.

It's all about PT People......
